A ten-stone research scientist doesn't often get the better of a 110-stone polar bear.
But thanks to a powerful tranquilliser dart, this scientist, deep in the icy wastes of Alaska, was able to do just that.
Just a few minutes after being struck by the dart, and roaring with surprise, the angry male bear collapsed on the icy ground, unconscious.

India's oldest man dies at 138
- Habib Miyan, India's oldest man, died on Tuesday morning in Jaipur at the age of 130, the Sahara Samay TV channel said.
According to his pension records, Habib was born on May 20, 1878, the same year as Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. He was the world's oldest pensioner, having received his pension since 1938.
Habib claimed to be 138, which would have made him the world's oldest man. However, according to the TV channel, he has in the past made several contradictory claims as to his age.

Women's Marathon gold claimed by Tomescu
Romanian Constantina Tomescu crossed the finish line of the Women's Marathon to claim the title at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2 hours 26.44 minutes
"It was a great performance. I'm very happy to win a medal, but especially the gold. At the World Championships in Canada (2005 World Half-Marathon Championships), everybody said I couldn't run, but I showed today what I can do," said the victor.
"The gold medal, for me, it is great," Tomescu added.
