World record sandwich? Iranians eat evidence !!!

Iran failed Friday to register what it said would be the world's largest sandwich in the Guinness book of World Records after people rushed forward and began eating it -- before it was measured.

Event organizers had planned to stuff the 1,500-meter-long sandwich with 700 kg of ostrich meat and 700 kg of chicken, and display it in a park in the capital Tehran.

But as the sandwich was being measured, chaos ensued. The giant snack was gone in minutes, a Reuters witness said, leaving the three Guinness representatives present with a dilemma.

One of the event's organizers said video footage of the sandwich would be sent to Guinness officials.

Dumpster Diving In Seattle

Trash is food: For frugalists, bargain hunting is a lifestyle.

Rebecca, 51, gets 99% of her food from dumpsters.

"It's so easy to eat for free," she says. "The only things I buy are butter and milk."

In 10 years of serious Dumpster diving, Rebecca says she's never gotten sick eating food from the trash.

She has only occasionally been hassled by a store manager, but she will usually talk her way out of it by spinning a story that she recently lost her job.

Tearless onions a step closer

New Zealand scientists have completed the testing of "tearless" onions.

Crop and Food research scientist Colin Eady said the onions were still in the developmental stage, but if the research progressed well they could become the household and industry norm within the next decade

With collaborators in Japan, Dr Eady has been conducting lab tests to dry up the agent in onions that makes cooks teary-eyed.

Researchers have used gene-silencing technology to switch off the enzyme that is responsible for the "crying" compound when an onion is crushed.

It’s located up, what appears to be a tree, it’s not a tree, however, it is a very realistic rendition made of concrete.
There’s an elevator in the trunk that takes the you up to the restaurant
