Indian teenager thrown under train for writing a love letter to a girl from a different caste
An Indian teenager was kidnapped, beaten and paraded through the streets before being thrown under the wheels of a speeding train - for writing a love letter to a girl.
Manish Kumar, 15, was tortured and killed because the youngster tried to woo someone from a different caste, police in the impoverished eastern state of Bihar revealed.
A mob from her group took offence and targeted the boy and pushed him under the train as his mother begged for mercy.
One man has so far been arrested and a policeman suspended.
The victim's mother Lalit Devi told police she had watched 'helplessly' as the wheels of the train passed over her son during the incident at Durgawati in Kaimur district. link

One in six mothers has a favourite child - but would never admit to it, according to a survey by Netmums, one of the most popular parenting websites in the UK.
More than 1,000 mothers responded to the survey, with 16 per cent admitting that they love one child more than the others. One third said that they love their children in exactly the same way, while just over half said they love their children differently - but equally.
'I do have a favourite child: my second youngest and my last daughter,' admitted Polly, a mother of four. 'It's almost like a secret love affair. When she walks into a room with my other children, she stands out to me more than the rest. I would die for all my kids, but I have to admit I would fight more strongly and fiercely for her.'

India's oldest man dies at 138
- Habib Miyan, India's oldest man, died on Tuesday morning in Jaipur at the age of 130, the Sahara Samay TV channel said.
According to his pension records, Habib was born on May 20, 1878, the same year as Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. He was the world's oldest pensioner, having received his pension since 1938.
Habib claimed to be 138, which would have made him the world's oldest man. However, according to the TV channel, he has in the past made several contradictory claims as to his age.
Sexual harassment okay as it ensures humans breed, Russian judge rules
A Russian advertising executive who sued her boss for sexual harassment lost her case after a judge ruled that employers were obliged to make passes at female staff to ensure the survival of the human race.
The unnamed executive, a 22-year-old from St Petersburg, had been hoping to become only the third woman in Russia's history to bring a successful sexual harassment action against a male employer.
She alleged she had been locked out of her office after she refused to have intimate relations with her 47-year-old boss.

Sheik send Lamborghini to London for oil change
A motorist sent his 'Batman' Lamborghini on a 6,500 mile round-trip to London for an oil change - at a cost of more than £23,000.
The £190,000 vehicle was loaded on to a scheduled flight from Qatar to Heathrow, before being flown back to the Middle East owner.
The Murcielago LP640, a two-seater coupe, features in the latest Batman film The Dark Knight
The car's 6.500 miles journey sparked outrage from environmental groups.
One said the owner - thought to be a wealthy Sheikh - had a 'carbon crater' rather than a carbon footprint.
According to reports, the black and gold car cost £3,552 to service at an approved dealer, plus around £20,000 to freight to Britain and back.
Jenny Evans from the campaign group Plane Stupid said: "This horrifies me. It is another example of how rich people exploit and pollute the planet because of their money."
Friends of the Earth transport campaigner Richard Dyer said the trip was "ludicrous".
"We urge the individual to get their car serviced closer to home," he added.
However David Price of Lamborghini Club UK said the way the owner chose to have his car serviced was up to him.
"I'm not surprised. Thankfully the age of excess in some areas continues," he said.

Proud dad Alexandru Ionce said Saturday that his 44-year-old wife, Livia, gave birth on Tuesday. Their daughter Abigail weighed in at seven pounds, 12 ounces.
"We never planned how many children to have. We just let God guide our lives, you know, because we strongly believe life comes from God and that's the reason we did not stop the life," said Alexandru Ionce.
The couple immigrated to Canada from Romania in 1990 and now live in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Their 17 other children range in age from 20 months to 23 years old.Full article

Robot restaurant mystery
Locals had nicknamed the eatery the "robot couple restaurant" as they couldn't understand how the same couple seemed to be on duty from 6am through to 3am.
The restaurant, in Yiwu, is actually run by two couples - and both the men and the women are identical twins.
It turned out that the twin brothers, 32, married a set of twin sisters from the same township three years ago and moved to Yiwu to run the restaurant together.
"Many diners thought we worked too hard and are like robots, but they don't know that we are actually four people," said Mao Zhanghua, 32, the elder brother.

'Pregnant Man' Gives Birth to Girl
Thomas Beatie, the transgendered "Pregnant Man" has just given birth, ABC reported:
The birth, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon, was natural, according to a source, who added that reports that Beatie had had a Caesarean section are false.
"She’s really cute, really pretty,” the source told ABC News Thursday afternoon.

SHOCKING surveillance camera footage shows a woman collapsing and dying on a hospital emergency room floor and then lying for an hour while staff walk past.
The video shows 49-year-old Esmin Green keeling forward in a psychiatric emergency room in Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, where she was admitted to treat agitation and psychosis on June 19.
Green is shown clutching at her stomach, thrashing on the floor before lying face-first on the tiled floor with her upper body lodged in the corner space between two sets of chairs.
Two other patients move around the room, security guards walk past and one even stares at Green for about 20 seconds but the woman is left prone until one of the patients gets help after about an hour has elapsed.
The video is being used as evidence by lawyers suing the hospital for neglect and the alleged abuse of mental health patients.
The lawsuit will also allege that staff have falsified medical charts to cover up their inaction because during a period that Green is seen thrashing on the floor, her medical chart claims she was "awake, up and about, went to the bathroom", New York's Daily News reports.
The two security guards shown in the video and four other hospital workers have been fired over the incident.

Dumpster Diving In Seattle

Rebecca, 51, gets 99% of her food from dumpsters.
"It's so easy to eat for free," she says. "The only things I buy are butter and milk."
In 10 years of serious Dumpster diving, Rebecca says she's never gotten sick eating food from the trash.
She has only occasionally been hassled by a store manager, but she will usually talk her way out of it by spinning a story that she recently lost her job.
